Grafton Information |
|
map | elevation profile | demographics Grafton is home to the northern end of the proposed trail and home to just under four miles of right-of-way (as outlined in this proposal, total track size is about 7.5 miles). The Grafton & Upton Railroad continues to use its northern terminal in North Grafton where it interchanges with another railroad. Because the railroad still operates at this terminal, this proposal ends the trail in Grafton Center, approximately at North St, just north of Grafton Center. This proposal and information then concentrates on the area of Grafton Center and south as to give visitors a good idea of the project, and not to interfere with the railroad's operations. Extension of the trail further north will always be considered if possible. Grafton, like the other two towns, is a member of the Blackstone Valley National Historic Corridor. A block from historic Grafton Center and across from the Grafton Historical Society building, the Grafton Center Station, now a boarded up concrete block building, could become the town's access point to the trail. On Upton St (Rte 140), this area is quite visible and accessible. The lot, which now contains the station and a railcar has ample room for parking next to a Cumberland Farms convenience store. Below you will find a map of the Grafton section of the project, demographic information on the town, and other information of local interest. Click anywhere on the Right-of-Way (yellow line) below to get detailed pages of interest. Links to parts of the Corridor is expected to be up for viewing by 12/3/03. Thanks for your patience. |
